Powder / Foam Compatibility Test

Why?
Because of concern about the poor biodegradability of fluorsurfactants, fire fighting foams are being appeared on the market without these effective ingredients. The effect of the foam collapse caused by powder when both media were used at the same time on a fire is much less pronounced with fluorine-containing foams. New generations of fluorine-free foams once again raise the question of compatibility, and foam-compatible powders are becoming important again.
A suitable small scale test in order to assess the powder / foam compatibility offers the test procedure in accordance with annex K of the new published norm EN 615:2009.

How?
Two comparative small scale fire extinguishing tests are carried out with the foam extinguishing equipment in accordance with annex
K of EN 615:2009. First one test is carried out with the foam in question. Then the test is done again after the fuel has been covered in powder. An increase in extinction time or a reduction in burnback time equal or greater than 25 % than the result without powder may be considered as an unacceptable loss in extinguishing efficiency of the foam by the added powder.

Exclude reservations of the users and have your products tested.
